Portal Cocktails was a bar on 4th ave in Tucson. I worked with Mark on illustrations for the New Moon Menu in 2024. Portal/Ermanos Bar was open for about 10 years and sadly closed. Iconograpghy & Typography
For the Portal Menu project, I designed custom icons for every drink and hand-lettered each section and title. The menu features a selection of unique and flavorful drinks. Each one required a distinct icon to capture its specific personality and taste profile. By blending hand-drawn typography with these specialized graphics, I created a cohesive visual language that mirrors the experimental nature of the menu itself.Centerfold Illustration
For the centerfold, I was tasked with creating a water space goddess to match the ethereal nature and aesthetic of the bar. I was inspired by the specific colors and the flow of the bar's architecture. Different parts of the goddess’s body are highlighted to push the theme of cosmic water energy. Her earrings reflect symbols from the cover, highlighting the new moon and the revamping of the menu.I started with pencils to capture a sense of raw energy and flow in the typography. This approach helped keep the lettering energetic while staying readable. I then used a Wacom tablet to finalize the colors and digitize the work. This ensured high-resolution images and professional print quality for the final execution.
